Dear Members and Friends of Sierra,
If you didn't see the South Bend Tribune's editorial about the importance of prohibiting fox and coyote penning in Indiana, please take a moment to read it now: http://www.southbendtribune.com/article/20100312/Opinion/3120373/1062/Opinion.
The process to end this cruel practice is a long one, and tomorrow (Tues., March 16) the Indiana Natural Resources Commission will discuss it again at their meeting in Indianapolis. Supporters of this type of "dog fighting" will be trucked in for the meeting - even from other states. So the NRC needs to hear from us!
When you receive this message, please go to the NRC's public comment site http://www.in.gov/nrc/2386.htm and click down to "Other" in the subject line drop-down menu. Ask them to prohibit fox and coyote penning Indiana. This inhumane practice, where the animal is put into an enclosed space and torn apart by hunting dogs, shows no sense of the fair play that every true sportsman believes in. Thank you for taking action!
Michiana Sierra will have a dinner meeting at Honker's Restaurant, 211 E. Day Rd., Mishawaka, this Thursday, March 18, at 5:30 p.m. You are very welcome and enouraged to participate. So that we can know which dining room to reserve, please contact Christine Fiordalis (574-237-1161) or firstname.lastname@example.org if you think you can come.
See you Thursday!
