You will learn about the powerful properties of essentials oils you can and create a unique Essential Oils Blend for your specific needs.

It will be especially good for mamas, taking care of the family at home.  If you would like to take home a personal blend (it could be emotionally cleaning, a mood elevator or something to help you focus …) please bring cash; the average blend runs about $10, depending on oils.

Sustainable Retrofit, roof, hvac, lighting

It's been a few months since we gave you an update.  Lots of work going on here at our old (1874!) building.  The chimney was in dangerously bad shape and would require an expensive rebuild.  Instead, we replaced the 80% efficient furnace with a 95% efficient model.  This cooler-exhausting furnace doesn't require a chimney, so we will be able to recoup our costs in a few years by avoiding the expensive re-build of the chimney, and saving on energy costs.

This little vent pipe replaces the crumbling brick chimney because the 95% efficient furnace vents cooler air.

You might notice our new roof is a much lighter color than before.  This will result in lower energy use for summer cooling.  Bonus:  lighter colored shingles last longer!

Light colored shingles reflect sunlight in summer, reducing cooling costs, and last longer than dark colors.

Finally, while we were waiting for the broken a/c unit to be replaced, we took the plunge and replaced our halogen track light bulbs with LED models.  This will also take a few years to recoup the cost, but with bulbs designed to last 10 years or more, we should realize great savings over the long run, not to mention the environmental bonus of saving electricity and cutting down on the heat generated by halogens.

These 13w LEDs replace 75w halogen bulbs in our vintage track lights.

We were glad to find bulbs that worked in our old dimmer track light fixtures.

Soap Making With Birgit

Let's craft fresh beautiful spring soap in this beginners workshop. In this soap making class you'll get to learn how to incorporate gorgeous spring herbs into natural soap and how to choose essential oils that are right for you. Lots of herbs and essential oils will be on hand, but feel free to bring your favorites.

Take home 4 bars (1 pound) of luscious palm kernel oil free - because we love orangutans - soap you made yourself and a handout with recipes and great information.

When you take our Natural Soapmaking - Beginner class, you will learn to safely make your own batch of natural, cold-processed soap from scratch. Cold process soap making is a very popular method because you can control just exactly what beautiful oils and butters will go into your soap and what the end result will be. In this fun & engaging workshop we will cover safety procedures, the chemistry of soap making and the process to make a cold process soap.

Be sure to wear long sleeves and bring a pair of saftey glasses (don’t have those? Not a problem! Extras are always on hand!!). $45

Healing at Home with Essential Oils with Jessica

Wednesday Feb 12th 5:30pm - 7pm.  All ages are welcome.
Please bring ideas and concerns that you wish to address and take care of.
You will go home with a specially designed blend that we will create from the oils Jessica brings to share and we will put it in a beautiful spray or roll on glass bottle for you to take and use to help your loved ones and yourself!

Natural Parenting Groups

New! Natural Parenting Groups Held monthly, every 2nd, 3rd and 4th Saturdays of the month, starting at 9:30 am.

Organized and led by Jen Starks, owner of Small Footprints, please come to our monthly meetings held upstairs in the store.

Cloth Diapers Support Group: Are you are new to cloth diapers or have the wisdom to share with others? We invite you to come to our monthly group, a chance to connect with other like-minded mamas!  The first 15 minutes will be informational & the rest of the time will be for discussion.  Lap babies are welcome to attend.  Free.  (Week 2)

Babywearing Support Group: Are you interested in learning how to wear your baby/toddler? We invite you to come to our monthly group, a chance to connect with other like-minded mamas!  The first 15 minutes will be informational & the rest of the time will be for discussion.  Bring your baby or a stuffed animal to practice! Note: Due to the space, only lap babies may attend. $5.  (Week 3)

Peaceful Parenting Support Group: This group is for all the parents who are committed to the idea of peaceful parenting and are interested in extra support. Not sure what this group is about?
